Family and friends - familiar faces all! In Schuylkill County people know their neighbors. They celebrate the good times together and help each other in times of need. This caring and friendly environment makes Schuylkill County a wonderful place in which to live. Schuylkill County's rich culture and diverse ethnic heritage have nurtured thousands of citizens who have grown up and shared their traditions with their own children. As a result, each community has a flavor all its own, making it a wonderful place to raise a family.

Schuylkill County's 12 public and parochial schools place strong emphasis on meeting individual needs and developing each student to his or her full potential. Higher education programs continue to expand. Locally, Penn State Schuylkill, Alvernia College, McCann School of Business and Technology, and Schuylkill Institute of Business and Technology are but a few of the wide variety of career programs available to students and adults looking to join the workforce.

When out of class or home from work, county residents can readily enjoy the bounty offered by each of the four seasons. In winter, the hilly terrain promotes super sledding as well as challenging skiing. In summertime nearby lakes and private pools are filled with swimmers and boaters. Tuscarora State Park, Locust Lake, and Hawk Mountain Sanctuary can enliven the outdoorsman's quest for an invigorating experience at any time of year. Schuylkill County is home to a variety of unique attractions and tours, including museums and historical tours, covered bridges, wineries, auto racing, classic cars, and scenic steam rail excursions.

The county also features a remarkable wealth of heritage and cultural performances with our own Community Chorus, professional Symphony Orchestra and a variety of performing arts groups. Great location, excellent job opportunities, good schools, affordable housing and great neighbors make Schuylkill County a great place to live.
