Employers from Lackawanna
and Luzerne County returned a combined 67 percent of the total
surveys, followed by employers from Schuylkill County (21 percent);
Monroe County (5 percent); Pike County (3 percent); Carbon County
(2 Percent); and Wayne County (2 percent). |

The top five industry sectors represented
in the survey were: Manufacturing/Skilled Trades, 19 percent;
Education/Training, 13 percent; Health Care, 13 percent; Accounting/Financial
Services, 7percent; and Retail/Marketing/ Sales, 7 percent. |

The survey also inquired if local
organizations had plans to eliminate jobs during the next three
years. More than 96 percent of the organizations that responded
indicated they planned no reduction in their workforce during
the next three years. This is good news for Northeast Pennsylvania
because it indicates that local employers are planning to keep
or add positions rather than eliminating jobs in the coming years.
Also, organizations participating in the survey anticipated 965
job vacancies due to retirements during the next three years. |
